Innovation, Learning & IT Reporting

Last year we celebrated our fiftieth anniversary in a festive manner, marking the journey towards our centenary. Transitioning to our new “online first” publication approach took quite some effort though. So far, we have published several insightful articles, and a selection of those has been consolidated in this edition.

As Compact Editorial Board, we are happy to announce that Albert Plugge has joined as a new editor. We are proud that he has just been inaugurated as Professor ESG Transformation & Digital Innovation at Nyenrode University. In the next Compact edition, he will elaborate on the role of technology and data for measuring ESG and reporting on ESG in the entire supply chain and will talk about the concept of “Green Swans”.

This edition features articles on a mix of subjects, ranging from the Dutch initiative on standardized IT reporting by major organizations to the evolving role of IT auditors in this digital era. Furthermore, the learning ecosystem and its context and challenges are described, based on recent research. Another aspect of retaining (IT) talent is rewarding and compensation. In the article on so-called Share Appreciation Rights, the benefits and limitations of these rights are outlined. Finally, two innovative developments are addressed in articles about a taxonomy of blockchain-based smart contracts and about data-driven innovation around the Johan Cruijff Arena as a living lab.

Alongside our regular book review, on competing with AI, you can read about the Article of the Year selected by the Editorial Board. The article on privacy enforcement “Five years of GDPR supervision at a glance” was the ultimate winner of the trophy award.
