Which personal data we collect and why

Online subscribers

When you register as an online subscriber on Compact.nl via the registration form, we store your login name, organization and e-mail address to send you a newsletter by email when the website has been updated with new articles or a new edition of Compact. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in the footer of each email.

Controlled circulation

When you submit a request via the Compact controlled circulation form, we will share the following information with KPMG: Name, Organization, Position, Email, Address, Postal code, City, Country, Telephone number, so that KPMG can contact you about your request to be included in their Compact Controlled Circulation file.

Cookies

The website contains buttons to promote or share pages via LinkedIn. These buttons are pieces of code provided by the social media in question and make use of a cookie. A cookie is a small file that is sent to your browser when loading pages of a website, and is stored on the device’s hard drive. This cookie remembers that you are logged in, so you do not have to log in on the social medium every time you want to share something. If you want to know what these social media do with the personal information they obtain through this code, you can consult the privacy statement published by LinkedIn.

If you are a registered user and log in to this site, we will store a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain personal data and is discarded as soon as you close the browser.

As soon as you log in, we will save some cookies in connection with your login information and screen display options. Login cookies are stored for 2 days and cookies for screen display options for 1 year. If you select ‘Remember me’ when logging in, your login will be stored for 2 weeks. Login cookies will be deleted as soon as you log out of your account.

When you leave a comment on Compact.nl, you can indicate whether your name, e-mail address and website address may be stored in a cookie. We store this information in a cookie for your convenience, so that you do not have to enter this information again when you post another comment. These cookies are stored for 1 year.

Google Analytics places a cookie to register your use of the site. More information can be found under the heading ‘Analytics’.

IP address

We store your IP address in order to protect our website against automated attacks.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to register your visit to the site. To protect your privacy, we have made a data processing agreement with Google Analytics, the last octet of your IP address has been masked, and in Google Analytics, we have deactivated the option of sharing data. Moreover, we do not use other Google services in combination with Google Analytics.

If you do not want Google to track your click behavior, you can download a browser plug-in from the Google website that prevents this type of tracking. This privacy setting will apply to all websites you visit.

With whom we share personal data

We will share your entered personal data with KPMG when you submit a request to be placed on the Compact Controlled Circulation list.
When you register for the Compact newsletter, your data will be stored at KPMG in accordance with KPMG’s privacy policy.

How long we store personal data

The personal data of a registered user are stored until the user indicates that he or she no longer wishes to be registered as a user. A request for this can be sent by e-mail to info@compact.nl. For more information see below under ‘View, modify or delete data’.

For registered users of the website we also store personal information in their user profile. All users can view, change or delete their personal information at any time. Website administrators can also view and change this information.

When you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. In this way we can automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments instead of moderating them.

For the security of the site, we store the IP addresses for a maximum of 2 years.

The data collected through Google Analytics are stored for 26 months.

View, modify or delete data

You have the right to view, correct or delete your personal data. In addition, you have the right to withdraw your consent regarding the processing of data or to object to the processing of your personal data by Compact, and you have the right to data portability. This means that you can request us to send you, or an organization specified by you, a computer file of the personal data concerning you we have stored.

You can send a request for viewing, modifying, deleting or transferring your personal data to info@compact.nl. You can also write to this address for withdrawing your consent or for objecting to the processing of your personal data.

To ensure that the request for access to the personal data has been made by you, we ask you to send a copy of your ID with the request. To protect your privacy, in this copy, black out your passport photo, the machine readable zone )the strip with numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number and citizen service (or social security) number. We will respond as quickly as possible, but within 4 weeks, to your request.

How we protect personal data

The connection with this site is always made via a secured SSL connection. Site management and backups always take place via a secure connection.

We take the protection of your data seriously and take appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorized modification. If you have the impression that your data are not properly secured or if there are indications of abuse, please contact us via info@compact.nl.

Which data leak procedures we have implemented

We register all data leaks in our quality system. Large data breaches are reported to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

From which third parties we receive personal data

Apart from KPMG, we receive no personal data from third parties.

Automated decision-making

We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing when it concerns matters that can have (significant) consequences for people. These are decisions made by computer programs or systems without human involvement.
